China-And the fight for the girls begins
Posted 12-02-2008 at 11:36 AM by luvasiagal
It is said that 30 million Chinese men will be without marriage partners by the year 2020. It looks like the fighting has begun. There will be kidnappings, killings, etc... with all that testosterone going on there. I can't say that I would complain having thousands of men calling for my affection. hehe Oops! I forgot. I'm already taken by a Chinese man. hehe

all you ladies who are taken
For the ladies who are taken:
It's great that you're taken, but you don't have to rub it in, all right?

I don't think blogging five posts out of 103 saying something about being attached is considered rubbing it in.Posted 12-02-2008 at 07:21 PM by luvasiagal

No need to apologize, 'specially when you're correct. ^
But girls, Zlou has a point. Why not take care of the homeboys first?

I dont see how there can be such light hearted comments about an abhorant state of afairs - the mass infantiside neglect and abandonment of girls . Not to mention the now disgusting slave trade thats a result of the continuing devaluation and dehumanising of women in china !!
I hightly reccomend every human being should watch the documentary 'the dying room' it breaks my heart : Archive Player - FourDocs
In America; China's Missing Girls - New York Times
A cultural preference for boys and China's ruthlessly enforced childbearing restrictions have resulted in the wholesale destruction of girl babies through gross neglect, abandonment, infanticide and, in recent years, the targeted abortion of female fetuses.

I once discussed this with my husband, the subject of all the baby girls missing. He said that the laws have been changed so that women can no longer do the ultrasounds and then abort baby girls. Also, the cities have changed a bit. You can now have more than one, if you pay a little penalty. Also, I think people are able to pass property down to the girls and girls have become more equal. In the rural areas, the families are allowd to have more than one child because they need them for the fields. It's not totally solved, but most of the shows that were done on this subject were made ten years ago. China has grown so much and things are changing rapidly. China knows that they cannot allow the continuation of girls being aborted if they want to win over the western countries. China has even clamped down on adopting baby girls. They can afford to take care of them now and are being picky about who can adopt (can't be over a certain age, can't be overweight by so many pounds, etc....) So, times are changing. I know it still goes on, but it is getting better.Posted 12-06-2008 at 01:19 PM by luvasiagal
