Cali or New York?

Well, it would depend on where exactly in each state......BUT, I will root for Cali.....

Just depends on what you want to deal with............

Closer to Mama is always best, especially since you won't have drama w/her. You'll just be starting out and you might need her.

You should make a list of what's important to you ... job/career path, where you want to live (apt/house), do you want a car or not, is clubbing important or culture?

When you write down what you really want - or where you see yourself in five years - it would be easier to tell you what city you should really consider. I personally love California - NY is too crowded and busy for me. Cali is great for my career (tech) but NY would be the place to be for fashion or journalism/tv/media.

Exciting stuff though!

It depends- what city in Cali? LA? SF? Sacrento?

One thing I didn't like about Cali or more specifically, LA, is that everything was so spread out. LA's landmass is a lot bigger than NY. It reminded me of the NY suburbs. NY's population is a lot more concentrated. I felt it would be hard to live there without knowing anyone.

As for transportation in NY, you don't even need a car. Everything is connected by public transportation. I think something like 80% of NY'ers don't even own a car.

I guess I'm biased but I think NY is the best place to live. Best clubs, nightlife, shopping, art, restaurants, etc.

Pro's-:

1. Better weather (warmer/sunny)
2. Major AZN Hub cities in US (SF/LA)
3. Cheaper than NY
4. Beaches/Mtns/Snow/Sking

Cons-:

1. Eathquakes
2. High cost of living
3. Smog (in major cities esp LA)
4. Traffic (esp in LA)

NY -

Pro's-:

1. More cold weather/snow (if you like that)
2. Great eclectic scene/trendy
3. Major AZN hub city

Cons-:

1. Horrible traffic (in the city)
2. #1 terrorist target
3. Highest cost of living in the US

I'm biased to CA since I live here. But, I an immigrant to the state. Have never lived in NY but have been there on business many times. It's a great place to visit but I would prolly never even consider living there. I'm a southern boy at heart (yes, I was raised on a ranch/farm - No, I'm not a redneck!) so even CA was a big change (but less than a change to NY) for me personally, coming from Dallas.

Good luck. Either move is a huge change for you. Just prepare mentally and financially. If you have little ones..take that into consideration as well. If your fily is closer to one or the other, I would also take that into consideration. Travel is expensive and if you are close to the fily, it is nice to know you aren't too far away from them.

I'm alone half the day. My son is going with his dad in about 2 hours to spend the night.

I think I would have been more lonely, but I just had a 5 day bout with food poisoning and I'm gonna rest.
