Taking portrait commissions for the Christmas season...

Hey everyone, I'm sure you guys probably know by now that I'm an artist. Well, I am giving a heads up that I'm going to be free to do portrait commissions this Christmas season. You can see examples of my work in the "Things I Created" album in my profile.
I charge $30 for the first 5 hours of work, and then minimum wage ($7.15 in Colorado) for every hour thereafter. Rates are negotiable if other forms of compensation are available (no, not THAT, get yer minds out of the gutter).
If anyone is interested, PM me and we can work out the details. I require a large, clear photo to work from if working from life is not possible.

looks great, interesting that you don't appear to be smudging much.Posted 11-18-2008 at 06:12 PM by Shang Chi

Beautiful picture. You must have a lot of patience. I'm too hyper to drawings. hehePosted 11-18-2008 at 09:01 PM by luvasiagal

Dies hun, you are undervaluing your art. Add a zero to the end of that $30 ... for 5 hours of work that's only $6/hour.
From one artist to another, I know you draw also for the joy of simply doing it ... but NEVER undervalue your work! You're not just selling some random piece of art - you're making it look just like someone it's supposed to look like. You're good enough and people should pay what you're worth!Posted 11-19-2008 at 04:52 AM by tigerlilly5

I agree with tigerlilly. Charge more. Check out rates of people of comparable talent on DA...Lot higher. Good luck!Posted 11-19-2008 at 06:51 AM by christine28

I agree... you should be charging more for your work.
But please wait until after you do one for me.
I have to find the picture of my parents.Posted 11-19-2008 at 07:28 PM by ScubaDvr

DI...I agree with the others. You're selling yourself short. I know chubby, unattractive guys who used to get paid more to be nude studio models at an all woman's college and got paid more than what you're charging. And this was when minimum wage was around $6. They made a great deal more than minimum wage.
Well done on the portrait you posted. It's better than some of the stuff I've seen by the artists at tourist traps in Europe.Posted 11-19-2008 at 07:39 PM by Rublev
