School Chronicles Part 6: The Fair!!!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday I have been involved in one of the largest events on my campus: The Renaissance Fair. It was my first Renaissance Fair ever, and so I was determined to work my ass off to have fun.

Friday, October 10, 2008: I was nearly DYING to get the heck outta Anatomy class so I could FINALLY be free and help out with the setup for the fair. Once 3 rolled around, merchants were coming in slowly but surely. I helped set up with the different merchants, and got some freebies with it! The baker gave us some shortbread cookies and they were soooo good. :yum:

I also got my bodice that day and it looked FABULOUS! I was so happy I got it. I'm going to go back to that seamstress and get another garb made in either blue or green... I haven't decided what color I want yet....

We had a rose de-thorning party at the Madam Wench's house, and they were absolutely GORGEOUS. We had red, white, pink and yellow roses, and I must say they were absolutely fabulous. I was SO wired that night, but I forced myself to go to bed so I could get up.

Saturday, October 11, 2008: SHOW TIME!!!! I was ready willing and able to get my butt up at 6 to help out with the final setting up of the tavern, which was called the Wilting Rose, along with any other merchants needing help. Miss Josephine D'Lancret was oh so ready to get down with her bad self!!!

I would just like to say now that I LOVE WENCH WALKS!!!!!!!!! We got to wench so many guys that day, and even ended the day with a MASS WENCHING, getting 8 men in a line and wenching them ALL, including a few of the members of the Cross & Crown and a Knight. Oh yeah, I totally can be a wench.....

I sold roses that day also. I swear, Madam Wench LOVED me for pushing those roses. I pushed them babies like they were going out of style!!!! And I even got 2 guys to buy ME roses!!! Oh how it pays to be a wench.....

Later that night, we had a little shindig and had a blast. I was kinda pissed that they had NO R&B music at all, but in the end, we got some mix CDs in and had a blast. We also got to play Musical Men (musical chairs using men as chairs), Musical Women (just one round though), and Knights, Mounts, Cavaliers (a whole lotta fun). There was good fun to be had..

Sunday, October 12, 2008: The last day of Fair and what a day it was.

Once again I sold roses galore, along with chocolate roses and other refreshments at the Tavern and around Fair. I was told that I was one of the two top selling wenches, and I felt good about that, knowing I brought good revenue in my first time.

The members of the Court assembled that day and we got to see the ladies get kidnapped by the pirates!!! The Cross & Crown fought them on the list and were victorious. The Pirates and Cross & Crown worked hard on their fight choreography and got a lot of crowd reaction.

One guy at the tavern bought 40 roses for his wife's birthday, which I thought was just so sweet!! And at the end of the day, the man who sold incense next to the tavern bought a rose for every wench, so I got 3 roses from 3 guys at fair!! Yay me!!!!

I also got to experience for the first time "rogueing," which is the male version of wenching.......good LORD, we need to have more rogues in our group!!!!!

The day ended and we packed up and went our separate ways, but that weekend was one of the best weekends I'd ever had. Miss Josephine D'Lancret has been put to rest for now, but she'll be back in full force for the Duke's Ball and Feast!!!
