A fortunate change in schedule tonight

So, while I was playing cards with my friends earlier tonight at a pub, it turns out that I was fortunate to have gotten there 1 hour earlier than normal tonight because of a change in schedule.
That was because had I gone out at my normal hour to meet them, I might have been a crime victim as apparently there was a news report of four young men that were robbing people of their cell phones near my neighborhood, with one of them having a gun.
After I got off the subway to get back home, I walked much faster than normal to rush back and not bump into those good for nothings.
And fortunately, I didn't cross paths with them.
