Divorces-Past and Present-Money Problems

This is an interesting article. Many times during a divorce, the custodial parent will fight to have their child send to private school, to pay for piano lessons, etc.... Many of the non custodial parents are going back to court to have that revamped. They can no longer afford it during these hard times.
If you ever get married, try to make sure your loved one has your same ideas when it comes to saving money. Otherwise, you have a constant battle. One may like to spend like there's no tomorrow and the other may like to save. This causes many problems. My ex use to put everything on a budget and would lecture me with charts and graphs when I spent one dime over the grocery bill. I had to shop at the cheapest stores for clothes. So, I looked terrible. I even got a lecture on how many squares to use for toilet paper. I was a prisoner. So, be sure you hash these things out before you take the plunge.

Too late for me, but thank you for the hint, it will be very useful for the younger people.
Indeed my ex and I fought over money a lot. He was the big spender, I was the one who tried to stay out of debts.
But luckily we had no children, so the divorce was the last part of that drama financially. We don't owe each other anything now luckily.
And I am debt free again, YAY!

Yes, it's too late for me as well. If I knew he was going to be a grinch, then I would have not married him. You shouldn't have to beg for things you need if you have money in the bank.Posted 11-20-2008 at 11:10 AM by luvasiagal

That's true.
Oh well, we both got wiser, let's hope some youngins don't even fall into the trap.
Neither a wasteful person nor a very stingy one will be my optimal fit.Posted 11-20-2008 at 11:16 AM by Lady_Fate
