Dear God Help ME!!!

I have a Vista and I just bought a really good Logitec cam. It freezes up my MSN and I can't even close it even in task manager when it does so.

What in gods name do I do?!

Does the Logitec said it's for Vista? If I were you i will go to the "download and support on the Logitec site and look for the latest software.
If you want to close your MSN in task manager you can go to the Processes tab, right click on msnmsgr.exe and select End Process
Hope this help

I had troubles with MSN Messenger when I used Vista, I don't know if it was ever resolved, since this was several months ago.

You may want to try downloading a new version of MSN Messenger, if you don't have the newest one already, and then try that.

Are you able to use your web cam in other applications? Say Yahoo or AZNLover?

Vista is so much of a headache and often manufacturers need to bring out patches, so my suggestion is to check on the logitec site to see if they have new drives or patches.

Checking for recent drivers is always the first place to start. Also checking to see if you have problems in other applications helps narrow the problem down. If you haven't done this in a while, run Disk Cleanup and empty all temp files.

Here are a few questions...

- What version of Vista are you using? Also, did you get 32-bit or 64-bit?
- Are you using a laptop or a desktop? What brand?
- I assume the cam connects via USB. Do you have any other USB devices connected? If so, disconnect all and just start with the webcam.
- Do you have the LogiTech QuickCam software installed and running? Make sure that is the latest version as well.

If you haven't already, check the Logitech support/knowledgebase. I'm sure someone else has had this problem. Also do a Google search using Vista, your computer, and the webcam model. There is bound to be someone with a solution.

Good luck.

Vista's actually quite usable, but I don't want to turn this into a debate. I'm running all sorts of OS's and I find it quite great for surfing the internet and working on office documents, but if you want to delve into the administrative portion, XP is more suitable. I used to triple boot Vista, XP, and Linux, now I just dual boot Vista and Linux. I find myself using the Vista portion more often, because things just "work" and I don't have to compile any drivers.

The computers in my room, I have an XP Pro machine and a Vista machine, the Vista machine runs all my games. Unfortunately XP does not have DX10. Oh, another great feature of Vista is it's copying function, it asks you if you want to copy, make a copy into the same folder with a different file name (as not to over write) or if you want to simply over write. This is something NOT found in XP.

Just an FYI.
