Your last statement is double standard. Everyone is free to act what they want, just as everyone is also free to think whatever they want. I think the culture is wimpy and I'm free to think that way. I mean seriously, do these nerds look like someone who can protect you or anybody around them. There is no way they can work as security in bars or clubs.
Lastly, if you simply look at other races' mistake and not your own race's, thats called hypocrisy. Correcting each other's mistakes is a part of a powerful and evolving society. So if there's anything that you deem wrong from your own culture, then you should say it. If every Asian have your kind of attitude, we will seriously become the bottom tier in humanity.
No dude. I simply believe every MAN has the right to act what the hell the way they want. The problem is with stereotypes they take away your individualities and make you all the same. This is exactly what's happening to Asian American men right now. It is like the society thinks we are all the same. I like to consider myself very different than the next Asian guy or any black or white guy out there. Why? Because it is true. If you think there is nothing wrong with a society who constantly breed the attitude that all Asian men are this or not and this somehow won't affect how Asian American kids think, you are seriously mistaken. How do we change the society and make it think we are all individuals? We have to put some positive images out there via the media. Whether we hate the media or not, it is still a powerful propaganda machine.

Your attitude of FOBs is full of stereotypes too. There are all kinds of people in Asia just like it here. I have no doubt there are some truth to your statements, but making a stupid uniform comment like you like makes you no different than any other racist. If you want to be accepted as individuals, you better learn to accept other people as individuals. Besides, I have met some so-called FOBs that are far more interesting than most Americanized Asians.

Lastly, yes I agree many Asians that come over to study can look like nerds, but that's not true of all men in Asia. I came back from Asia not too long ago, there are some very fashionable people out there. Trust me, thugs don't get a chance to come to America to study or their parents can't afford to send them if they want to. Besides, judging Asians from Asia based on American culture standards is pretty stupid all in itself.

The key to being persuasive is reining in your passion.

That's why these bitter asian guys (Bags, as I call them), vehemently spewing their garbage about AF's who "sell out" are "Self haters" and "race traitors" always evoke a sense of pity in me..
How many times must I repeat this?
I do not hate asian women. In fact I love asian women.
I hate the way we're portrayed in the media. It pisses me off, apparently it pisses a lot other Asian men off too. That is the source of my bitter passion. Since you say you agree with most of my views, then we won't debate about our differences anymore. I am very critical of people who are against positive depictions of Asian American men in the media.

"Talented " seems to think the media does not affect the choices of everyday life outside of consumerism and politics. He's delusional and I don't think it's necessary to debate the point that mass media is very influential in all aspects of our lives.
If I'm treating people like lambs, it's only to people who are ignorant to reality.

I actually posted a few times, congratulating Nordic, Je Suis, Azn04, WCStar on their ideas and views on how to improve our image. So No, i'm not being condescending to everybody, only people who are against improving our image.

to all the lurkers, it'd be nice if you posted on whether you agree or disagree on how to improve our image in the media.

>SIGH<

Kid, you've got a lot to learn about the real world. A whole hell of a lot to learn. You've got a lot of energy, but there are better and far more effective ways to channel that energy.

Us veterans are gonna stay out of this one.

It was mentioned in this thread, so I just have to say, I LOVE Cashmere Mafia!! I watched it the other night, and damn, that Asian guy on there is HOT!! They did well with the casting on this one. I definitely give them that.

I personally would be happy as can be to see an AM/WF couple depicted on a mainstream TV show like that (can't recall if there has been or not... as far as I'm aware, there are some in films, but not on network TV just yet.) Of course, I'm biased in that regard, but I still think it would be a cool thing to see.

But yeah, Cashmere Mafia freaking rocks!!

He's worth it.

My shit alone is a cure for most cancers, but no one believes me. They'll be sorry though. Nobody believed in IBM too long time ago. Now they wished they owned a bundle of stock when it just started out.

ChenLeong50 is an unknown quantity at this point
just wanna gimme some self props that I was the one who first broke news of this lucy liu-jack yang thing on cashmere mafia, trying to rouse some interest in this show from AM's.

Anyway, I agree that we should mobilize more. writing studios and such is important, but i think even more important is backing it up by watching the show and going to movies, buying dvd's etc. why don't we see more asian-american movies? because hollywood doesn't think it will help their pocketbooks. If DVD sales for movies such as Shanghai Kiss, Better Luck Tomorrow etc somehow went through the roof, you know a lot of similar movies would be made (Hollywood is big copycat industry) Look at Harold and Kumar. The movie kinda struggled at the box office but became such a cult classic and had great DVD sales and now their is a second one, helping John Cho become a mainstream star.

Actually this Christmas I bought a bunch of copies of Shanghai kiss and give them to people.

Also, in Shanghai Kiss, Ken Leung gets to kiss a AF and a WF (see deleted scenes). This settles the AM/AF vs AM/WF debate. why choose if you can have both???
