I was thinking of going to France for part of a 2.5 week European vacation but now I am rethinking it. I'm Chinese, and currently there is the whole stupid pro-Tibet thing going on in France.
It would have been a great vacation seeing how AM's have a good rep in eg. southern France among the ladies, but I don't want this to be an unpleasant trip.
I don't know about the woman factor, but there was a report on NPR this afternoon about how expensive it's getting over there for Americans. Basically because of the exchange rate right now. One lady was talking about paying over $400 USD for a room that consisted of a bed and nothing else, not even a clock.

What do you guys think?
Anyone in France now?
Oh COME ON. Have you no pride?! If they ask, say yes, you're chinese, and if they ask about Tibet, say you're from the USA. Then they'll hate you for being american. That'll tidy things up nicely.
But seriously man, just remember, most people KNOW that a government doesn't represent the will of the people.
Sheesh, why do so many people here let imagined preconceptions rule their lives, as opposed to just taking a risk and checking it out for themselves?! No risk, no reward. That's life.

I remember when I was out with friends many years ago and some guys came and tried to talk to us. When they asked where we are from, one girl said the name of a hillbilly village. Another said "Turku" that is known as "the ass of Finland" for people of Helsinki. I think I said that I was from Sweden. The guys were like WTF when we said those things loud and with pride
But on the other hand, people might want to talk about China-Tibet politics and I understand totally if the OP doesn't want to talk about them especially on a holiday.
