Yay!
Anyone doing anything special today, or partaking in special events? UCSB had our earth day celebration last weekend and it was excellent. Very environmentally sound, and we offset our event with about 100 trees. We had live performances, carnival booths (answer a question and win a token for free food a the farmer's market).
However, today being the official day of Earth Day, I thought I would do my part by plating a tree in my backyard as well as nullify my carbon footprint for today.
Tell me your plans (if any) and significant events around your area. I know many schools have events of E.D
Funny, on my way into class this morning I noticed the smog haze looming over Denton.
Apparently UNT has not had an Earth Day celebration since we opened our Enviromental Science building in 1999.
The smog can't be worse than LA's, however.
But that sucks. I would've nearly all universities would have some kind of celebration, especially those that have buildings dedicated to environmental studies.
Perhaps you should be the first to plan one for next year.

Hope it was at least eventful in your neck of the woods
I made all my students go outside and pick up trash - they wore latex gloves, so it kind of negated the reduction idea, but at least they learned how to sort paper, plastics, glass, and trash...
Go Earth Day for letting me get out of the classroom!
I’m Miss American Dream since I was 17
Don’t matter if I step on the scene
Or sneak away to the Philippines
They still gonna put pictures of my derrière in the magazine
You want a piece of me?
