I've debated telling this in the open forum... A blog may have been more appropriate... but there have been enough people here that know what's been happening, I'd thought I'd share... and some have been quite supportive and a special thanks to Lady Celtic for all her emails to keep me smiling...
In order to truly comprehend Mother’s day and it’s significance… one needs to know there individual you call “mom”
You’re mother is the one who nurtured you for nine months and brought you into this universe… she gave you life…
She took your hand from the very first breath as a helpless infant… She walked with you, helped you chose your path in life… She is your guardian and protector… A warm embrace, a shoulder to cry on… She is your best friend…
A week before last Christmas, my ex - mother to my daughter and step-daughter… their mom was admitted to the hospital with severe stomach pain… During the stay, she also suffered a mild stroke… and transferred to a hospital down town specializing in Neuroscience…
You do the best you can for your children, it wasn’t the way they were suppose to spend Christmas with their mom… but… life really didn’t leave them very many options… My ex’s family rarely came down to visit her… So my daughter and I spent most of Christmas day with her mom…
So now fast forward to Mothers day… today… My ex went in for surgery this past Thursday… a major operation to say the least… The four and half hour operation went smoothly, took a little longer then expected, but went well…
The recovery should only tale a few days and she should be out by Saturday…
Friday night, well after I had taken my girls for a visit, I received a call, from their mother, complications had set in… she was having a great deal of chest pain, another call an hour later… the Critical Care Unit had been dispatched and was on route to her room…
I arrived Saturday morning with the girls, series of tests were done over night… but were inclusive and their mom was in bed waiting for further testing… they suspected several issues… from inflammation of her lungs to blood clots…
What had seemed hopeful for their mom being home for mothers day was quickly dissipating…
Our evening visit bared no answers… just sit and wait…
So now it’s Sunday morning, Mothers Day… The girls had originally planned breakfast in bed for their mom… but today, it was me getting them up and ready for a hospital visit, first thing in the morning… their gifts all wrapped and card signed… an all too familiar of a feeling from a Christmas past…
With gifts in the back of my truck and the girls situated in their seat, we were on our way…
I received a call about 15minutes away from the Hospital… The results came in and the treatment over the night helped her enough, so that she can be discharged…
I told the girls the news and for the first time in a while… Both girls were cheering together… both their smiles could have brightened the darkest of rooms…
Mothers’ days for my girls was spend at home with their mom…
oh wow, so glad that she was able to go home and spend the day with her girls. I know that they had to be really happy an excited. Hope things continue to get better for her and she becomes stronger
Thanks for sharing and I am so happy for the girls and their mother.
What if Prince Charming had never shown up? Would Snow White have slept in that glass coffin forever? Or would she have eventually woken up, spit out the apple, gotten a job, a health-care package and a baby from her local neighborhood sperm bank?
I know you and your ex and the girls have been going through soooo much over the last 5+ months. I keep having my fingers crossed for everyone that her health will improve and make life better for all involved.
I have to admit though, you scared the heck out of me there for a second with the part about the complications!! But I am so very glad to hear that she is now out of the hospital and back at home!! Much better than Mother's day at the hospital, I'm certain.
Glad that I could help just a little...I was sometimes afraid of becoming a pest - but hoped that you were distracted from your worries at least part of the time.
So glad to hear of the happy ending - most especially for your girls who have been through so much worry and stress themselves. Still keeping you all in my warmest thoughts.
