I have this WM coworker who's an older guy. At first he asked me if I'm shy, because it's the Asian culture. I was like WTF, I'm not even that quiet, it's just that you're annoying and talk to people when they're busy and doing stuff.
Then we have this go away thing where we get a shirt and people write on it, and he writes that I'm a quiet guy. Again I'm like WTF.
I know that he's also a dirty guy and making sexual jokes all the time.
Ever had people "enforce" a stereotype on you like that?
yes. I have people all the time insisting that I love fried chicken. I dont even like chicken.

you shoulda told him you're not shy. and that just b/c you're asian doesnt mean you're automatically a quiet person. people like that are the ones you have to step up to and say STFU! or they'll keep on saying it to you...or someone else.

He sounds like he's trying to pigeonhole you into a category. It keeps his worldview stable. It stems from insecurity. Basically, he's just being weaksauce. I'd ignore him. Others will be able to tell whether or not you fit his description.
I have a good idea- next time go to work with nothing on but a trench coat. Jump out in front of him and and expose yourself. I bet he'll never call you shy anymore.
I think its best to just ignore this idiot and save your time and energy. The kind of people who would think such things about you are not the kind of people worth bothering about. If you wrestle with pigs, the pig has fun, but you just get dirty.
