Okay, I noticed that many of you guys have families who wish you to marry asian. But is there not anyone here with a situation similar to mine?

Mother: she's buddhist so everyone's equal
Father: doesn't care if she's asian or caucasian (i think he has a hidden preference for caucasian but won't admit it)

While that certainly is the case with some of the guys...
You will note MANY interracial couples on this site, that have been together for some time.

That is just to name a very few, so i guess there are many many progressive families.

I think he meant progressive parents, not couple.

My parents are probably most liberal of my family and pretty much anyone I know, they've allowed me to do what I want provided that I make responsible decisions for myself. They're self-made and college educated people, with an open minded approach compared to most traditional asian parents.

I've had a pretty mixed dating record as far as races go. While they say they just want me to be happy; I think they're secretly rooting for me to meet a nice chinese girl.

Dale's parents were very welcoming of me from day 1. I think his mom is just so glad that he is finally settling down that as long as I make him happy, then she doesn't care whether I'm white, purple or blue. In fact, no one in his entire family has made our differing races an issue. I guess we are just really lucky to have modern parents who love us and just want us to be happy, regardless of ethnicity.

My parents are pretty progressive.Both left their families for the military at a young age.They both are cultured,open minded and just good people.My parents don't care much about race, taugth me to look pass that and the negativity I may encounter. I must say I am very blessed to have my parents especially when you I see so many different of families and how they communicate with their children.

It's interesting how progressive people think they are, until you bring your significant other home.

Take my mom for instance. I brought home my guy for the first time not too long ago. She took me aside and said to me, "Sha, I always thought you would end up with a white guy!" She was shocked that my SO wasn't black or white (like those are the only guys to chose from).

My SO's mom is still having a hard time with it. All of his previous g/f's have been white, and she was pleased as punch with them, even though all of them were under-achievers. Now he brings home a college education black woman and she gives him atitude. Whatever. This one's a keeper though, cause he sure set mom straight when it came to her talking about me.
