New novel by Japanese writer
Real World, written by Natsuo Kirino. The NY Times has a review.

The comparisons to Dostoevsky (my favorite author) give me pause but the concept of the book sounds fascinating. And since I tend toward darker literature, I think I'll give it a read. Has anyone read Kirino's other work and if so, what did you think? Does anyone else think they might check this book out?
