Yeah ... reading my previous post, I realize I came across as a bit bitter towards the likes of Arnold Kim. Honestly, good for him and I congratulate him on his successes.
It just kinda irks me that everybody thinks East Asians are supposed to be super geniuses who are good at math and are wealthy by the age of 30. It's ridiculous that every East Asian is expected to be like Jerry Yang, etc.
I guess you could say it's like blacks and sports/music/entertainment. For every one black person who makes it in the music industry, there are several who fail. But people assume that if you're black, you're supposed to be good in sports and/or talented in music.
Likewise for East Asians, for every one model minority success story, there are thousands who are struggling to live up to that hype. And constantly being reminded that you're supposed to be the "model minority" and people questioning why you're not living up to the East Asians who are Ivy League educated doctors doesn't do much to help one's self-esteem.
but alas, I'm just ranting...
