For the past few weeks, there have been speculations that the Aussie WNBA superstar Lauren Jackson declared her love for NBA superstar Yao Ming. The rumor goes that even before Yao got married, Jackson asked Yao on a date, but Yao turned it down because he was with his girlfriend from the Chinese women's national basketball team back then.
I was very skeptical about all these rumors flying around with Yao, i mean people respect him not just as a talented athelete, but also as a good ambassador of sports in general, so it's common to see people give him the kind of respects he deserves.
While i was watching the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, a shot of Yao Ming and Lauren Jackson hugging seem to have centered the stage. Now, to me it really is nothing at all, i thought it's just a friendly hug coming from a fellow bballer, obviously they knew each other from their close ties in US bball.

But from this video, people have been saying that Lauren Jackson seemed to have said those three exact words - I LOVE YOU (in the very beginning). And the hug did seem a bit more intimate than it should have been, i wonder how Yao's wife is feeling when she sees this.
Now, this really got me started thinking twice about what is going on. I'm not saying Yao is cheating, that's just not his style, but maybe Lauren did geniunely like him, and it's just too bad that he's taken and things wont work out. Whatever the case may be, i bet the debate of this will linger in the sports world within the next while or so.
Personally, i still lean towards the 'there's nothing going on' camp, but even if there was, i think they would have made a really good couple. And as an Asian male, it is that moment that we are all waiting for: Yao Ming would have seriously boosted that Asian image to a new height.
