Any MTB fans out there?
I am dying to go to Whistler BC.
Heard and seen so much about the place but can be quite intimidating -- need to know if anyone's been there and the prospects for an intermediate rider.
Don't want to go all the way there just to crash on my ass at every turn!
How about something closer to home in Texas? Somewhere where I do not have to cross paths with rattlers?
yo man. I am a avid mountain biker. Whistler is designed for downhill riders. I am a XC rider.
I am an XC rider as well - currently alternating my rides between a Marin Rock Springs, Specialized Rockhopper and probably my fav a Bianchi Grizzly. Waiting to get a Santa Cruz Blur XC and then hopefully pay homage to Whistler; was told there are a couple of XC trails there -- with names like Foreplay, Young Lust, No Girly Man and Thrill Me Kill Me -- I cannot wait to see what lies around the bend!
Will let you know if I make it there ... and back in one piece!
I love mountain biking too, but after watching Roam, I figure it'll take me a while to take Whistler.
I got a glimpse of Roam, not the complete DVD -- oh yeah, preeetty wild!
I am not quite up there at their level and do not really plan on trying any of their stunts (intentionally or otherwise!) but I can imagine the rush.
I am not big on hot and sandy rides like most of what we have here, prefer the longer greener XC singletracks; moist and wet is good -- mud is great!
Whistler will be the ultimate though!
I've been riding all over LA and Orange County, very dry, sandy trails in general also. I end up inhaling a lot of dust and occasionally get a mouthful of LA.

you have to use a mask that filter out dust & pollutants.
