Some cleaners use a special marker to write the customers name on the inside of their pockets and most of them also use a paper tag system with numbers on them, the same grouping of numbers for all the clothes in that drop off so to speak for example. The customer brings in 5 items the person checking them in uses a tag that has a large 5 on it than a series of number sort of like an invoice number that tells the person at the end of the line inspecting it there should be 5 pieces with that number. These tags are held on in some places with staples and in the higher end cleaners with the little plastic pieces that hold price tags on at stores. There is a large needle type machine that pushes them through.
