Who is your favorite #2 NBA Team to follow?

Chances are, if you live in a city that has an NBA team and you're a hoops nut, you root for that team.

For years I have been blessed with consistent play from the Pistons. But since Joe D scared away Vinnie Johnson with his penchant for letting coaches go who don't win the championship their first year of coaching, and also for being trigger happy with free agent money and not waiting until 2010...I have a feeling Pistons basketball is gonna suck for years to come.

That said, I need a backup team to root for.

Who's yours...and why?

I'm going with the Thunder. Kevin Durant has surpassed Melo as the second best sf in the game next to LeBron. Hell, I'd even put Danny Granger on the fantasy boards above Melo. Russell Westbrook has got athleticism to spare. And in James Harden, he's found the yin to his yang. If Russell is the hare, Harden is the cerebral tortoise. The second coming of Brandon Roy. At 19 Harden has a ton of room for improvement. Harden, Westbrook, and Durant make for a fun trio to follow for the next 5-7 years. Jeff Green's no slouch either. There's still hope he can blossom into a Lamar Odom like presence on the court. Sure they won't make the playoffs in 10' but like the Blazers (Rudy Fernandez, PLEASE stay in the states) they will be perennial post season favorites. Dinosaurs like the Celtics and Spurs will fade into obscurity.

Celtics baybee. KG rules and now with Rasheed we will be exciting to watch. I <3 Hoops. I can't wait for the season and tix go on sale Sept. 8th woooooo

Opps OK I see now that you're looking for # 2 team....ummm I'll have to say Cleveland. I saw Lebron at my home town hang out and I was trying hard NOT to stare but couldn't help it since he was at MY neighborhood bar. Ever since then, I have loved him.

Quite a ways from the season.

I grew up in the Seattle area so it's without doubt that I am a Sonics fan. I remember the heart break of losing to the Nuggets (#8 seed) as a first seed in 1994.

I remember them going against the Bulls in the finals in 1996. Shawn Kemp was the real MVP of that series, though they tend to award it to the best player of the winning team. I still think Shawn Kemp is arguably the most explosive player the league has ever seen. Though I like Stoudemire too but to me Shawn was my original basketball hero.

Ever since the Sonics moved and became the Thunder *shudders* I can't help but cheer for them to lose. Sorry I want the whole league to know it was wrong to take away a team that's very much part of the city and the heart of their fans.

But getting back on the topic, my second favorite team is the Suns. Now that Porter has left, I hope to see the Suns get back more into that high octane run and gun game. Stoudemire is my favorite baller on that team. I like basketball to be exciting and fast but I do enjoy a cerebral close game as well. Well the game should be played all out but more controlled once it's crunch time.

I also like the Blazers due to the Seattle contingent. (Roy, Webster, and Mac 10). I once met Nate at basketball camp. He saw how in awe I was of seeing him. he came up to me and said what's up. Being a shy teenager, I looked away. I hope he didn't think I was intentionally rude.

To this day, I still don't understand what a 3 second defensive violation is.

You know I would add another team but I think over filled my quota lol

I have to add the Hornets. It's too bad they traded Tyson Chandler. The Chris Paul chandler alley oops were awesome to watch. I remember when they came to play in Seattle against the sonics. Chandler dunks with ferocity but doesn't hang on the rim. Just a big WOOSH from the microphone (near the net). They spanked the sonics and Paul lived up the hype of his ROY season.

The Reign Man was an absolute monster. The tandem of Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp was a sight to behold. Kemp could have been the greatest power forward ever. Shame how he squandered his talent.

Me, I'm from NY so I've stuck with the Knicks since I was a kid. Second team used to be D'Antoni's Phoenix Suns with Nash, Stoudemire, and Marion. That run and gun style certainly was entertaining. This season I'm curious to see how far Orlando will go with the addition of Vince Carter.

Shawn Kemp Top 10 Dunks, although the one he teabagged Dennis Rodman is missing

D'Antoni is now coaching the Knicks. Who knows? In 2010, Amar'e may sign with them!

My 2nd favorite team currently is the Cleveland Cavaliers... yes, mostly because of LeBron. In fact, I wanted to see the Cavaliers beat the Magic to make a Cavaliers-Lakers final after the Celtics had lost to the Magic.

I have to the bigger bandwagon jumper and say the Denver Nuggets.

I like Carmelo's game and respect Chauncey Billups' game.

Yea Kenyon Martin is a jerk but this is basketball and you don't win by being moral and well spoken.

GO DENVER!
