What's so special about wearing $2 clothes? You wear two dollar shirts because presumably your good looks carry you so you can afford to understate, but you forget to mention that you apply thick makeup, LIPSTICK and eyeliner on your face?
Come on people. It's not ROCKET SCIENCE that if you have a good physique and ultra good looks you can wear anything and get by, especially something as simple and basic as T-shirts and jeans. If I were in that position my style of choice would be the loincloth and full body tattoos. Then I would snicker as I walk through a bar and the women gasp and turn crimson because they lubricated their pussies involuntarily.
Back to the topic...
The real question is, do you know how to dress to kill when you need to?

My man, what's up with you always losing your temper?
I'll post up pics of me wearing nicer clothes when I get home later today. Of course, unless folks tell me not to, I don't wanna spam any threads today.

I like it when guys do that. I think it shows how well he wants to look and how well he wants to take care of his clothes. It's kind of a final touch thing...

MS, I like undershirts too. I don't really know why...I just like the thought of there's more to unwrap under there. My bf wears undershirts too and I really think it's sexy for some reason. Maybe it's the final touch thing like you said.

I agree with the undershirt thing. A nice looking, simple wifebeater or henley is nice. It HAS to hug the body though or you simply look fat.

The problem for me personally, is that I want to find casual wear that is stylish, functional, and individual. I know that a lot of people get their fashion ideas from pop culture, men's magazines, music videos etc, but I don't follow any of that media, which may or may not be a problem. Plus I really want to develop my own unique individual style if that is possible.
Men's fashions in general I find somewhat boring and lacking in variety. The people who are responsible for creating fashion trends are advertisers and nobody in the the fashion industry in the western world targets an Asian audience. There are fashion trends within certain races and cultures, and sometimes they are cross cultural, which oftentimes winds up looking ridiculous as no doubt many people have observed.
I sort of gave up on fashion a while ago as I wanted to be nothing more than to be unnoticed and a social nonentity. Right now I am wearing mostly functional outdoor athletic clothing, such as plain UnderArmor shirts and tshirts, hiking/trekking pants and boots, goretex parkas and such... all in tactical matte black of course, heh heh...
But I think I'm getting over that phase and I want to start dressing with style again, but the problem as I stated is that I am not sure how to do that. My personal taste has changed and I don't want to start wearing leather again. So I'm really at a loss as to what is out there and where to begin.

Please do so! Please put up pictures of yourself with nicer clothes! I beg you.
By the way, does it really look like I lost my temper?
I will have to scan my brain for parasites.

RE: whoever said that suits are boring and are all the same:
I have to disagree with you there. Yes, there are suits that look the same and if a man puts a plain white shirt with it and a boring tie, then you will blend in to the landscape. However, when a man pairs a good quality crisp shirt with a boss tie and hankie-square, then it pumps up the look about five-fold. A well-fitted suit can also do wonders--nicely cuffed trousers with the proper break can make me go weak in the knees! An Asian man in a suit will make me look twice every time. Yes, they're just clothes, but women will tell you that if you take the time to show that you've put a little time and effort into your ensemble, that will pay rewards every time. Sure, it may be a little superficial to you men, but remember what ZZ Top sang:
"...coz every girl crazy bout a sharp-dressed man."

Agreed.
I do think that if someone doesn't want to look good for men/women - ok, it is their choice. But then they should not complain that a girl takes a guy who is better dressed than you - or a guy takes a girl who is better dressed.
But those who don't care about looks at all, more power to them if they find someone like they are for a partner

Reading this thread has made me realize how much I'd enjoy being a personal shopper. Everyone likes to look great, at least sometimes, but not everyone can do that on their own and I would love making these clothing decisions for men. Men's wear isn't nearly as eclectic as women's wear, but there are still many factors to consider that most guys just don't acknowledge, i.e. decent tailoring, proper use of color, versatility etc.
