Have you ever had the misfortune to seriously misplace some stuff?
Well, for the last 10 days or so, I've been searching for a group of items, and I now think that I seriously misplaced them somewhere in my house or I accidentally tossed them out with the trash during one of my cleanings.
Mind you, a number of those items in that group are tough to find, so the cost to replace is not a factor, but the mere task of finding them.
Those last few days have been quite trying and have just really drained me. For now, I will just chalk it up as a loss, and perhaps when I am not looking, they just turn up.
I do it all the time, sometimes it shows back up, sometimes I'm not so lucky.
Currently, I've mislaid my diamond earrings. I took them off just before Valentine's Day so I could wear my new heart earrings and tucked them somewhere safe. I remember doing that, and now I can't remember where the safe place is. You'd think that was ok but, that's exactly how I lost my last TWO pair of diamond earrings. And these... were considerably more expensive. Bravo... only me.
This is why I'm never been much into jewelry. I wish I wasn't starting to like it more as I get older...
Maybe I should invest in a nice jewelry box!
When I was a kid, I lost the necklace my great-grandmother gave me. It had a jade charm. I kicked myself for years when I did that. My great grandma gave it to me before she died.
Anyway, I remember an old after-school cartoon in which little green creatures from the secret world of Og would sneak into our rooms when we're sleeping and take stuff like pens, keys and other little trinkets. Then we wake up and drive ourselves nuts trying to find them.
I'm a very organized person, but occasionally when I hide things and end up having hid them just from myself!
I have those chip thingies on keys, wallet, etc., and a remote that emits a piercing sound so I can locate them in an instant.
If I can't find it, and I have to have it, I actually go out and purchase another one (save the receipt) and as soon as I come home (Whahhlah!) it magically appears! Seriously.
Things that are worth money, I always put in a safe deposit box.

I usually misplace/lose my best ballpens at work and when it happens I am quite confused and wretched. Actually we get a lot of new from company field workers but they are never as good as the ones I was using before.
i don't seem to have that problem. it may take me some time to look for certain things because they're placed in boxes in my basement. i never misplace anything. if i know i don't want to keep, i'll toss them out and won't ever think about it again. i've learned to let go of things that are unnecessary to keep and it's taking up spaces.
YES! I was shaking out my car rugs and my engagement ring flew off. I was in the grass all night crying and digging in the dark. I was so upset.
The next day, Behold! there was something sparkling in the grass. My ring was nestled in the grass about a foot from where I was looking the night before.
