Apparently, custard apple and soursop are more or less interchangeable names for the same thing but I don't buy it - the ones I tasted in Asia have a far more complex sweet-fragrant flavour (like the wiki article describes) whereas the ones I've had in Oz taste really boring (just a straight sweet-bland taste).
It's the same thing with mangos - the ones in SE Asia taste much better.
Berkeley Bowl usually has them (as does Ranch 99 and Chinatown shops depending on season). If you're near Berkeley and haven't been to Berkeley Bowl, they've got everything and at prices surprisingly lower than regular supermarkets; they prove organic and diverse does not equal $$$. I was in there recently looking for a yellow squash, there were at least a dozen different kinds to choose from; mind boggling.
They were opened in the late 1970s by Glenn Yasuda (a Japanese American) who is now in his 70s and still spends much of his time at local wholesale markets making purchases for his large store and gourmet prepared foods counter.

I have never tried the soursop. But it looks similar. I can totally agree with you on the mango...at least the ones grown in India...so much better than what we get here. I am going to check out Berkeley Bowl....hopefully I can get them there!
