Check Yelp! to see if there are any down in SoCal... other than the usual suspects (e.g. Goldilocks & Red Ribbon).
There are a number of hole-in-the-wall places dotting the Bay Area. Given that alot of Flip non-"Holiday Food" looks like a brown stew of some sort with lumps of meat, it usually doesn't look all that appetizing... it reminds me of eating at a relatives house, where they don't make the food quite like mom does. Add to that, most of the places don't look all that clean.
However, on the Peninsula there's Patio Filipino, which is supposed to be gourmet Flip cuisine. I went there once but they were booked for a wedding reception so never got a chance to eat there.
Oh yeah, Gerry's Grill in Union Landing, Union City is pretty good & the food looks appetizing.
