How do you ask a girl out???
Ok i'm asking this question, not because I don't know how to but because everyone I've asked out never gets the idea its a date!

I recently met someone who lives in my building, asked her to coffee, blabla. got the date tonight, only to have her call me up to A) cancel and say something abt her sister needing her and then B) not realizing it was a date..

So what do i say for it to be clear?

at first she actually cancelled on me and asked to reschedule to tomorrow night. i told her i cant cause i got dinner with the parents who are in town for the week. so i told her it might be hard cause i was trying to keep this on the DL (my parents get way too nosy if they find out i'm with a chick) and then she was like ' you do realize this isnt a date right?' so i asked if it changed anything that i thought it was a date, and she said she's in a relationship with some guy...

nonchalantly? I think what ends up happening most of the time is that I would strike up a conversation with someone and if things gel, I just ask her if she wants to hang out in a friendly manner. Most girls are pretty straight forward and will let you know if they're seeing anyone.

theres nothing wrong with anything you did per se, but your target was probably toyin' with you.

best way to ask a girl out is to do it directly, coming off confident and polite. if you get shot down, or worse she is playing you gotta realize what it is and move on.

Even a ridiculously handsome individual like yours truly gets the thumbs down from time to time. Can't ever let it get to you.

Obviously, she is not into you. Also 'wanna go get a coffee sometime' is not clear enough. You might need to say "would you like to go out with me?"
