the los angeles county area....where could one find a good place? not on the west side i am hoping. i really do not like the environment out there and it is hard for me to get out there. i am kind of looking for some off the wall areas east of los angeles the city. but, if there is something near downtown, that is great, too.
i have eaten chinese (americanized) food for so long and have seen and heard of so many other things that are covered in the chinese styles of cooking. yet, i have probably never had anything real and authentic other than very typical things in a restaurant.

You can find them in the San Gabriel Valley - San Gabriel, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Temple City, Rowland Heights etc . I wish I was there to show you. The problem is that in those cities you can hardly find an English sign anywhere.
Check out biggestmenu.com. There are reviews, pictures of the dishes, location of the restaurant... everything. You'll be amazed!
On a second thought, just come up to join our Loving Day celebration. The restaurant we are going to in Milpitas is as authentic as it gets!
"I am not ready to announce yet — even though it's clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative." - Stephen Colbert Announcing HuiNeng's Run for da House.
that is too true. i don't usually make it out to that valley...only for the porn shoots. joking.
i will have to look at that thread and such. for some reason i thought it was located somewhere else. i don't even know what milpitas is-----is it filippino?
actually what you listed is much closer for me. and yes you can find some here and here around that area, but they are basically the same. is that how people who cook in restaurants in asia prepare their dishes? the ingredients are sometimes lacking out here.

Sorry I mistyped. You were right, they are not in the San Fernando Valley. I meant San Gabriel Valley. East of LA downtown. What kind of Chinese food do you like?
Another problem is I know where those places are but I have no idea what the names of those restaurants are.
well, i have to say, i have NOT had such great opportunities to try every chinese restaurant out here. there are just too many and they sometimes change over the years. there are tons!!!!!!!!!!! and not just chinese. i live in little asia, sort of. which is always great, but, damn it....too many places to try. plus, it is hard sometimes to get others to go to them with me. we usually go to places we know better. there is one place that is a completely hole in the wall...something about a kitchen in the name...i can't remember the name at all. i only know where it is located. really good street food style things. they definately had some things i never ate before. but, i have only been there once.
edit, now talking about this has made my hunger issue worse and i am shutting down physically. lol. i am ready to salivate as i pass out.
i guess it does really depend on the style of food i am looking for. i love spicy (schezwanish types)...but, my body will not find it as pleasing as my mouth does.
when i was younger we used to go to this hunan (is that the right spelling, i forgot, sorry) style place near a family friend's house. it was good. i know a lot of people say it is kind of bland. but, it is still good. i mean it is still chinese food. i am not that picky.....except when i have to be and when i am unfamiliar with things like sea cucumbers.
I didn't know we were neighbors! I lived in Pasadena for years till fairly recently. Well, next time I go back to LA we'll go get some Chinese food in SGV. Biggestmenu.com is a good site to start your search if you can't wait
