so ummm... I decided to take on another hobby and get in touch with my Asian culture more, so when the day i get to be 90 or 100 i'll look bad-ass with my er-hu instrument. Currently I can't play for S#$*! I'm not making any money playing on the streets with my cardboard sign. I need more improvement so I can get extra money for gas I want to know if there are members here familiar with the instrument, I live in Northern Cali, perhaps a teacher or fellow user around? suggestions? advice?

There are er-hu players there and they should be able to give you lessons. If you live in sf, there are occasionally performances at the asian art museum.

an er hu is only capable of making depressing sounding music, when I hear Chinese people playing them on subway platforms, I wanna snatch it out of their hands and smash them over the head with it.

props to you man. I went through the same contemplation at one point, and I wound up deciding to choose the guzheng instead of erhu. Close call though.

Btw, I gave up the guzheng after a month. IT'S HARD!
